Project
Membership management system for Czech Ski & Snowboard
When tradition and innovation come together, unique projects are created. The Czech Ski Association, the oldest national ski association in the world, with more than 20,000 members and almost 500 clubs, needed a modern tool that would simplify its daily operations. Our task was to create a portal that would not only meet their needs, but also bring a new standard of digitalization to the world of Czech skiing.
Challenge
To create a unified online platform that will become the main source of data and help reduce the administrative and procedural burden of the Association, sections and clubs.
The Czech Ski Association has faced long-term problems associated with inefficient processes and dysfunctional digital solutions that were supposed to solve these problems. The last few years have been marked by two unsuccessful attempts to introduce a unified digital system. Both previous solutions did not meet the expectations of the association or its members, which led to increasing administrative burden, frustration, time and data losses.
Solution
From the beginning of the project, we had a task at our disposal that mapped the scope of the portal quite well in individual topics, but often only skimmed the surface. One of the key aspects of our work was to fully understand the legislative framework within which the association operates in 2013, from the rules of the National Sports Agency to the internal processes and rules of the association and its sections. It is important that the Czech Ski Association brings together seven relatively different sports: alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, nordic combined and grass skiing, two of which are further divided into sub-sections.
The division of the federation into sections brought great complexity, because many things, such as transfers, are legally resolved by each section separately. There was also a huge difference in the format of the results of individual disciplines - there are more than 40 of them within the federation alone.
Although it was an internal administrative system, we emphasized intuitiveness and aesthetics. The system is used by many users with different digital skills, so it was important to make it simple and enjoyable to work with. The high-quality visual identity from the NMDS agency provided us with a solid foundation for the user interface design.
Digitalization demonstration
In just five months, we created a registration system that unified key information about members and clubs into one central platform. This tool simplified administration, increased efficiency and laid the foundation for further development of the portal.
Conclusion
The portal of the Czech Ski Association is now a key tool for managing members, clubs and competitions, which saves time and simplifies administration. However, our work does not end - in 2013 we continue to develop it to further improve the presentation of the association, bring advanced analytical tools and create other functions that will shift the focus from administration to what is most important - sport.
